Summary

Nora Seed feels she has failed at everything: her career as a musician, her relationships, even caring for her cat. At her lowest point, she finds herself in the Midnight Library, a place between life and death where infinite books line the shelves, each containing a different version of her life she could have lived. Guided by her childhood librarian Mrs. Elm, Nora has the chance to try out these alternate lives—one where she became an Olympic swimmer, another where she stayed with her fiancé, one where her band achieved fame. But as Nora inhabits these different existences, she discovers that even seemingly perfect lives contain disappointments and that regret may not be as straightforward as she believed. This philosophical novel explores depression, regret, and the infinite possibilities contained within one human life.
